Theresa Smith

Theresa Smith BSN, RN is a senior quality improvement specialist at UH Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital (UHRBC).  She has over 39 years experience as an RN with clinical background in adult cardiac and trauma intensive care and over 20 years in neonatal intensive care.  She joined the UH RBC quality team over 8 years ago and has supported quality improvement efforts for hospital acquired conditions, including central line associated bloodstream infections(CLABSI),  catheter associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI), surgical site infections (SSI), and venous thromboembolism (VTE).   During her time with the UHRBC quality team, she has been active in Solution for Patient Safety work, including national and regional learning sessions and workgroups. She loves the challenge of leading change and working with diverse teams.  In her spare time, she enjoys reading, gardening, and outdoor activities with her husband, Jeff and dog, Lucy, including camping, hiking, and kayaking..
