Sara is Senior Vice President, Chief Safety and Quality Officer & Chief Experience Officer at Boston Children’s Hospital, Director/PI of the Center of Excellence for Pediatric Quality Measurement (CEPQM), and Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School. She oversees the safety and quality of the care provided at Boston Children’s and leads strategic safety and quality initiatives. As the Director/PI of CEPQM, she has been integral to the development of multiple nationally-recognized pediatric quality measures such as being the co-lead developer of the Child Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (Child HCAHPS) Survey. Her research aims to measure the quality of pediatric care, demonstrate the association between quality measures and healthcare outcomes, and develop interventions to improve outcomes. She received her BA from Holy Cross College. As a Rhodes Scholar, she received her MPhil in Social and Cultural Anthropology and MSc in Comparative Social Research from Oxford University. She completed her MD and MPH at Harvard Medical School. She did her pediatric residency in the Boston Combined Residency Program and at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and completed the Harvard-wide Pediatric Health Services Research Fellowship.
