Nicholas Flaucher

Children's Mercy Kansas City

I began my nursing career in 2011 on an adult high-acuity tele floor. After charging and a year of nursing supervision, I followed my passion of vascular access and joined Children's Mercy's VAT team in 2014. In 2018, I accepted a position as vascular educator and worked as a Clinical specialist for a device company. Most recently, I have transitioned to the assistant manger where I provide organizational leadership in both academic and clinical settings. I have developed hospital wide and unit specific education related to vascular access techniques, practices, products, and CLABSI surveillance & prevention. I believe in fostering lifelong learning and discovery by integrating research and best practices to facilitate greatest patient outcomes. Lastly, I am co-chair of the Peripheral Intravenous Infiltration & Extravasation (PIVIE) committee whos global aim is to eliminate harm from moderate and serious PIVIE events.
