John Babineau

John Babineau is the System Associate Chief Quality Officer for Pediatrics at NewYork Presbyterian Hospital and an Associate Professor of Pediatrics in Emergency Medicine at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Following medical school at Robert Wood Johnson-Rutgers, John he completed Pediatrics residency, chief residency and Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship at NYP-Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital. After this fellowship, John joined the faculty at Columbia in 2013 and then completed the Greater NY Hospital Association and United Hospital Fund Clinical Quality Fellowship Program in 2016. As a faculty member John has been actively involved in teaching quality improvement methods to both residents and fellows and he has led multiple successful initiatives with a number of these resulting in presentation and publication. In November 2017 he became an Associate Chief Quality Officer at NYP, working to advance quality and patient safety. John has also served as the Chief for Pediatric Emergency Medicine in the Columbia University Department of Emergency Medicine from January 2020 until July 2023 when he became the NYP System Associate Chief Quality Officer for Pediatrics. In this role John partners with teams at each of the pediatric sites in the system, working with them to develop, drive and sustain quality improvement efforts across the spectrum of care for children.
