Jessica Ray, PhD is a Human Factors Engineer at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. She graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Master’s in Modeling and Simulation and a PhD in Applied Experimental and Human Factors Psychology. Jessica joined St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s Office of Quality and Patient Safety in early 2025 as their first Human Factors Engineer and is quickly building collaborations across the institution supporting work on communication, new technology implementation, and implementing human factors methods in areas such as CLABSI improvement. She has extensive experience in human factors systems analysis and human-systems interactions across healthcare settings. She began her work in healthcare in 2012 at Yale New Haven Health’s simulation center where her human factors work included communication and workflow improvement, new technology integration, and physical environment testing. From 2018 to 2025 she held faculty positions first in the Department of Emergency Medicine, Yale School of Medicine then in the Department of Health Outcomes and Biomedical Informatics, University of Florida College of Medicine. She currently serves as a Human Factors Subject Matter Expert for the SPS Proactive Safety Committee.
