Janice Yanez is currently the Director of Patient Safety and Patient Safety Officer at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami, Florida. With a deep commitment to collaboration and shared learning, Janice serves as one of the Florida Culture Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for Solutions for Patient Safety. She strongly believes in the importance of not competing for safety, but rather in fostering a culture of sharing and learning from one another. Janice's passion for patient safety extends beyond her role at Nicklaus, as she actively contributes to advancing safety practices and culture across the state. Her dedication to excellence in healthcare is evident through her Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification from Florida International University and her Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) credential. Janice is committed to inspiring the next generation of healthcare professionals through her role as an Adjunct Professor for the Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Florida International University, where she integrates innovative teaching methods and practical experiences to create a dynamic learning environment. She is also actively involved in professional organizations such as the Nursing Consortium of South Florida, Florida Society for Healthcare Risk Management, Institute for Healthcare Improvement, and Children’s Hospital Association, where she continues to advocate for patient safety and quality improvement initiatives.
