Gary Frank, MD, MS is the Medical Director for Quality, Regulatory and Accreditation at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. As a physician leader, Dr. Frank combines his medical background, his education in engineering, and his passion for providing safe, efficient, and effective care for hospitalized children. After completing his residency in pediatrics at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Dr. Frank took a position at the Alfred I duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware where he worked as a pediatric hospitalist and also worked with the clinical informatics team on the hospital’s health information systems. During that time he developed expertise in medication safety, decision support, and quality improvement. In 2005, Dr. Frank moved to Atlanta, GA where he continues to work as a pediatric hospitalist and has served in a variety of leadership roles. Dr. Frank’s professional interests include medication safety, elimination of hospital acquired conditions, and reliability in healthcare. He has participated on a number of national committees including the Children's Hospitals Solutions for Patient Safety (CHSPS) Clinical Steering Team and the Children's Hospital Association Measures and Standards Committee. Dr. Frank has also served as a co-leader for the CHSPS Pressure Injury Workgroup and Southeast Regional Network. He enjoys teaching and lecturing on topics ranging from patient safety to medical informatics and is the editor of two books on pediatric hospital medicine. In 2019, Dr. Frank received the Paul V Miles fellowship award which is given to an accomplished mid-career pediatrician who has demonstrated excellence in improving the quality of care for children.
