Daniel Hyman, MD, MMM now serves as the Chief Safety and Quality Officer at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and is a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at Penn. This is Dan’s third role at CHOP- he completed his pediatric training here in 1986-1989 after graduating from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He returned to CHOP on a part time basis to serve as the Medical Director for CHOP’s Physician Hospital Organization, Children’s Health Net, from 1996-2002 while in private practice at Erdenheim Pediatrics.
Dr. Hyman most recently served as Chief Medical and Patient Safety officer at Children’s Hospital Colorado from Sept 2008 – October 2020. He previously served as the Chief Children’s Quality Officer and the Chief Medical Officer for Ambulatory Care at New York Presbyterian Hospital.
Dr. Hyman is a member of the Clinical Steering Team for the Children’s Hospital Solutions for Patient Safety (Hospital Engagement) Network, and co-chairs their Measurement Committee. He helped develop and then co-directed the Academic Pediatric Association (APA) Quality and Safety Improvement Scholars Program. Dan earned a master’s degree in Medical Management from Tulane University.
