Courtney’s career in family advocacy grew out of her own personal experiences with her son who was born a micro preemie, including a 5-month NICU stay and his ongoing experiences as a medically complex technology dependent child. Over the past 12 years she have become highly involved in programs that enhance quality and safety, family support, and helping to educate families in caring for their technology dependent children.

Courtney is currently a board member of the March of Dimes NJ/NY and The Beryl Institute Patient Experience Policy Forum (PXPF), where she leads the Patient and Family Partnership Workgroup as Co-Chair and led the workgroup in creating a Telehealth Advocacy Toolkit. She also serves on the Solutions for Patient Safety (SPS) Ambulatory CLABSI Leadership team as a parent adviser and chaired the workgroup for the New York State SPS Family Engagement.

In the past Courtney served as the Patient Family Advisory Council (PFAC) Chair of NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Komansky Children’s Hospital and is currently a member of the NewYork-Presbyterian Executive PFAC. During her time as Chair she co-created the Simulation-Based Discharge Program (SDP), the Parent-to-Parent (P2P) and “Speak Up for Safety” cards at NewYork-Presbyterian Komansky Children’s Hospital.
