- Lived in Akron and always knew I wanted to work with kids
- After high school, I graduated from Medical Assisting School. The Medical Assisting training peaked my interest in becoming a nurse.
- I entered nursing school in 1984, graduating in December 1986. During nursing school, I loved my pediatric rotation at Akron Children’s, applied for a job while I was still a student and was hired before I graduated.
- I started at Akron Children’s on January 5, 1987 on the Infant Toddler Unit.
- After 6 months, I applied for and was hired as a Clinical Coordinator on the Infant Toddler Unit.
- During that time as Clinical Coordinator, I became interested in the quality improvement strategies going on in the organization.
- In October 2009, I joined the Quality Services department and began my journey into the Quality Improvement world.
- I obtained my CPHQ and CPSO certifications during my time in Quality Services.
- I have had IHI RCA (Root Cause Analysis) training and currently I am the facilitator of RCAs in our organization, as well assisting with Apparent Cause Analysis (ACA). A majority of the work in my role is focused on patient safety.
- In my spare time, I enjoy reading, traveling, and watching movies with my husband and son.
