Brittany Bogan, MHSA, FACHE, CPPS, is Administrative Director for Quality & Safety at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital & Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital at Michigan Medicine. In this role, she is responsible for the development, measurement, and sustainability of the quality, safety and experience program for the children’s and women’s segment, with the aim of continuously improving healthcare quality and reducing preventable harm. As a member of the hospitals’ leadership team, she ensures organizational alignment on strategic goals and leads the execution of plans to improve key performance metrics for patient safety, patient experience, employee engagement, external rankings, quality improvement and accreditation.
Prior to joining Michigan Medicine in 2021, Brittany served as senior vice president, Safety & Quality, at the Michigan Health & Hospital Association (MHA) and executive director of the MHA Keystone Center. In this role, she was responsible for all quality and safety issues for the MHA, including the leadership of the MHA Keystone Center, providing oversight of the center’s state and national activities, which encompassed the work of the MHA’s federally certified Patient Safety Organization. Under her leadership in 2018, the MHA Keystone Center became a founding member of Superior Health Quality Alliance, a comprehensive quality improvement organization dedicated to collaborative approaches to improve the health of the communities served across Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Brittany joined the MHA in 2009 and over her 12 years with the association, gained progressive leadership experience managing large-scale quality improvement and patient safety initiatives, achieving demonstrable reductions in harm while focusing on safety culture and teamwork. Among her other MHA responsibilities, Brittany served as the president of the Upper Peninsula Hospital Council and led the association’s efforts and strategy related to women and children, including the establishment of the MHA Council on Children’s Health, serving on the statewide Maternal & Infant Health Strategy Group, and engaging in federal advocacy efforts to advance children’s health.
Brittany holds a master’s degree in Health Services Administration from the University of Michigan School of Public Health and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, a certified patient safety professional, and a certified patient experience professional. She has training in various performance improvement and change management methodologies, including certifications in Just Culture, Lean Healthcare, TeamSTEPPS and the Comprehensive Unit-based Safety Program.
