Brian Haney

Brian is the Manager of the Wound Ostomy Care Team and Enteral Access Team at Children’s Mercy Kansas City, a role he has held since 2018. He is a member of the WOCN and WOCN Kansas City Heartland Affiliate and participates in SPS HAC work for pressure injury and PIVIE. Brian leads the organization in pressure injury prevention, treatment and surveillance. He is a pediatric nurse by background and has been in the wound care specialty since 2016. Brian comes from an extended family of nurses, respiratory therapists, social workers and physicians, all specialized in pediatrics. He has a passion for patient safety and continuous improvement.

His work has expanded the specialty by bringing knowledge to the large HAC Champion committee and recruiting bedside staff to become wound care nurses. Much of his current work is in the inpatient and acute care setting, supporting, educating and growing bedside nurses.
