Chief Medical and Strategy Officer, SPS

Dr. Anne Lyren is the Chief Medical & Strategy Officer of the Children's Hospitals' Solutions for Patient Safety (SPS) Network, a collaborative of 150 children's hospitals across the United States and Canada. Dr. Lyren received her bachelor’s degree at Harvard University and a master’s degree in philosophy as a Rotary Scholar at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. She then completed medical school at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, her residency and chief residency at UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital and subsequently served as a hospitalist service attending and Director of Rainbow Center for Pediatric Ethics. She held numerous other leadership roles at Rainbow, including Vice Chair of Quality & Safety and Interim Co-Chair of the Department of Pediatrics. In 2010, she became Co-Clinical Director of SPS, expanding it nationally. As Clinical Director and now Chief Medical & Strategy Officer, she leads strategic and tactical efforts to eliminate healthcare-associated harm, driving a culture of safety for patients and staff across the network.
